When I start to think about this wedding I get a little bit emotional. Maybe it’s because it was such an incredible day. Maybe it’s because Ashley and I have become really great friends since her wedding. Maybe it’s because I was popping pregnant when we shot this wedding and I was SUPER emotional on the day. Maybe it’s all of it.
Ashley is a winter fanatic. She starts her countdown to Christmas before we’ve hit the longest day of the year. She adores the snow, the shimmer, the magic of it all. As you would expect for a winter wedding, we were worried about the weather, but oh man did it deliver. It was so gorgeous that day, we couldn’t have asked for better. The bridesmaids may tell you differently now, but they they braved the cold and never once complained as they shivered for the outdoor pictures. That’s just the type of group this wedding party was. Everyone was amazing – we’re so grateful!
Ashley and Brett had a First Look – in which they saw each other before the ceremony. It was beautiful and intimate and a moment that was all theirs. I’m so glad they decided on this.
I have to say a massive thank you to Michel Feist of Ampersand Grey, who second shot for us for part of the day. I was seriously swollen at 37 weeks pregnant, my belly absolutely massive. We decided really last minute I wouldn’t be able to shoot the entire day (obviously!) so in came Michel to the rescue. THANK YOU so much my friend for capturing amazing photos of the guys getting ready, the First Look, the ceremony and all the rest. And for being there for us.
Ashley and I had an agreement that I wouldn’t go into labour until after the first dance. Callum obviously liked her because he obliged (he’s since proven it, he loves her!)
You both are amazing. A true thank you for having us be a part of your day – and for trusting I wouldn’t go into labour on your wedding day!
Lots and lots of love,
Shauna & Gareth
p.s. it’s taken so long to share this because I couldn’t choose which photos to post…they’re all so beautiful xoxox
This past weekend Gareth and I headed to one of my favourite places – the Rocky Mountains. Elsa and Avery were married on a stunning day in Canmore with the majestic Rockies standing guard behind them as they repeated their unique and beautiful vows to one another.
The whole day was full of detail, of thought and of love. Elsa has a smile that lit up the entire town – it was infectious! Avery is a true gentleman – kind and loving.
Congrats to you both – it was our honour to be a part of your day, thank you for having us!

I’m late in sharing this photo – about 5 weeks late, but I just have to as it’s one of my favourites to date.
As we came into Callum’s fourth month he really got vocal. His tiny baby laugh grew into this loud, infectious belly laugh that comes right from his toes. It makes the whole room light up. It doesn’t take much to make him smile. He wants to be happy, he wants to giggle and laugh with anyone who wants to play. He’s a happy chappy, as Gareth calls him daily.
He makes my heart swell. How I love him so.
I feel like I have so much to share from the last little while!
Callum turned 5 months old on Friday – already! We spent Saturday morning at the downtown market with the little man. He is curious and inquisitive and wants to see everything. And best of all, he (almost) never stops smiling.
So far, summer has been a blast. I’ll share more soon.
Lots of Love,
Michelle & Jay were given this engagement shoot for Christmas – what a lovely gift! The four of us hit it off right away, and we spent the evening hanging out. This is our absolute favourite kind of evening with clients, when it feels like we’re spending time with friends.
We are so happy for you both, and it was lovely to meet you!
Shauna & Gareth
Every day I watch these two and my heart just swells. Callum breaks out into the biggest smile when his dad walks through the door, he starts chatting with Gareth in his nonsensical gibber gabber. He watches Gareth’s every move, and I swear he knows they’re the same.
Callum stares at Gareth in wonder (or confusion…who knows!) as Gareth tells him stories of adventures and Grizzly Bears, complete with more accents than you can imagine, or when he reads him Winnie the Pooh.
My heart just grows bigger and my love stronger every day as I watch Gareth turn into more of a Father than I ever could have expected for my child.
Happy Father’s Day to my Little Man’s dad, and the love of my life.
Happy Father’s Day to my dad, who still takes care of me in countless ways.
And happy Father’s Day to all the amazing dads and father-figures today. You are truly a reason to celebrate.
p.s. so a couple pictures really did turn out great from Canmore!
Our little family headed to Canmore for our first road trip with Callum this past weekend. If you’ve been following us for a while you know we are all about a little adventure, especially if we can jump in our car and see some new sights. We drove over 1,000 km in 3 days, taking the long way home, scouting for an upcoming wedding, and heading to some new sights.
Callum was a champ.
We had the best of intentions to capture some great shots of his first trip to the mountains. I had grand visions of beautiful vistas in our background, of smiling, laughing faces in the foreground.
Life doesn’t always work out as planned. Sometimes it turns out like this.
And sometimes, that’s okay.
Real Life – nailed it.
Little Jaxon came to visit us and was the most calm, relaxed newborn! We had good fun with him, and I was able to catch up with his mamma, Nadine, an old friend from high school.
Callum and Jax have since become friends, I’m sure they’re bound to get into some trouble together!
Thanks for hanging out with us guys,
