When we first started out with newborn shoots, we tried newborn lifestyle photography. I’m going to be honest, it was a disaster. Instead we decided to focus on the studio. We have worked so hard at it, and we truly love the ease of studio sessions. But – there is something so unique about a newborn session in your home, especially when siblings are involved. Toddlers have a lot more flexibility at home, and sometimes they are just more comfortable in their space, their environment, with the flexibility to roam around a bit more than in the studio.
Lifestyle sessions aren’t for everyone. Our clients love that they can come to our studio, not worry about cleaning their house, and have those styled studio photos. On the other hand, it’s so cool to capture a family, in their home, in the place they have worked so hard to make their own.
It is a personal decision, and we’re happy to chat with you and decide if studio or lifestyle is your jam. I’m working on a guide to help you decide which is best for you, but it comes down to this:
We are now offering Lifestyle Newborn Sessions in the Edmonton area.
Whichever way you decide, we’ll capture some amazing memories for you. Let’s chat, figure out what kind of photos you love, and what your objective is. Maybe you worked really hard to decorate your nursery and you really want that documented. Maybe you can’t get enough of a family all cuddled up on the bed. Maybe you love those posed newborn photos where everything looks just perfect. We will help you figure it out, and choose the type of session that fits your style best.
Here is the lifestyle session Gareth took on that made us change our minds. Who could resist, right?
