Edmonton Winter Wedding at Blackhawk Golf Club

1 May 2017 | Weddings

Shaina and Dane! How do I even start describing these two. Lovely, generous, kind, so much fun. Their engagement session was different and unique for us. Thank you guys for pushing our boundaries and letting us explore and have some fun. And then there was their winter wonderland wedding. I think all of us just want to say….brrrrrrrrrr.

Let’s start at the beginning though. Their ceremony and reception were held at the stunning Blackhawk Golf Club. With massive windows and large rooms, it was the perfect venue. Shaina and Dane chose to have a First Look (which we LOVE!) in the paths at Blackhawk. Dane’s face was priceless! He was in absolute, complete awe of his bride, and it was so blatantly obvious. Shaina glowed the way that only brides do – feeling beautiful and perfect on her big day.

After the First Look, Gareth said we needed to head inside. He had a big idea for photos in the locker room. I’m going to be completely honest here – I didn’t see it. I saw benches and lockers. But this is the amazing thing about Gareth and I being a team. Two eyes. Two perspectives. Two shooters who work together and off of each other. The results are stunning – they’re moody and glamorous and show off Shaina’s stunning dress. They are some of my absolute favourite from the day. (and I’m so proud of him for nailing those shots!)

We headed back outside after the locker room shots. It was a really, really cold Edmonton winter day, but this whole group never once complained about it. The girls bundled up in their adorable mittens and shawl, and the guys sucked it up and braved it. Gareth and I worked fast. If you look close, you’ll see the same pose from different angles, giving a completely different look in seconds. I shot the girls while Gareth shot the guys. It didn’t take long and everyone was freezing, but it didn’t matter, it was ceremony time!

The rest of the day passed in a blur. The ceremony was stunning, funny, emotional. We went right into family photos, and then the reception. Everyone had a blast – it was obvious this group was there to CELEBRATE.

Our evening finished up with Dane’s band playing a set, while everyone rocked on the dance floor. They were still going strong when it was time for us to go.

Thank you so, so much for having us be a part of your day. It was a beautiful day, and we are so happy for you both!
