Planning A One Year Session
What a wonderful milestone to celebrate! You did it! Your family has made it through the first year. The celebrations, the struggles, the wonderful, beautiful, messy growth of your family. There are SO many ways to celebrate a First Birthday that Planning a One Year Session can leave you with a lot to think about!
First Year Celebration Options
A One Year Session in Edmonton means the sky is the limit. So let’s get Planning!
Let’s chat! Let’s brainstorm, see what your style is! Do you love a white, basic look, so we can really capture your child’s features? Or would you like to dress up? Do you want to keep it casual?
Our studio has evolved quite a bit, so you can see some examples of what the studio is looking like right now in this blog post.
How Your Session Works
When we plan a session, we suggest that you choose an outfit or two for portraits, and then we will move on to the messy portion – if you choose a messy portion! It’s not necessary if it’s not your style.
Portraits are just photos of your child, to display their beautiful features at this point. Please see some examples below.
*Please remember we don’t provide the food for the food portion, or the messy portion of the session.
Beautiful Portraits

Remember if you have booked a One Year Package with us, family photos are included! If this is a stand alone session, you are still more than welcome to add on family photos. You can see all of our pricing in this post here.

So let’s get brainstorming! Here are some examples of adorable, fun One Year Sessions we have captured.
*Please remember we don’t provide the food for the food portion, or the messy portion of the session.

Pie Smash
We loved this beautiful Thanksgiving themed Pie Smash for this Thanksgiving baby! Check it out here.

Classic Cake Smash
This classic cake smash is absolutely beautiful!

This little guy was SO happy! You can see his session here.

Pancake Smash
This family chose a favourite meal – blueberry pancakes!

Paint Smash
We started doing these painting sessions, and holy what a hit! The kiddos still get really messy, and mom and dad get a keepsake to take home with them. This twin session can be seen here.

Outside with Watermelon and Yogurt!
This mama brought her daughter’s favourite snack – a yogurt trifle! Along with the watermelon, it made for a seriously adorable, summery session.

Another outdoor session, and this mama chose such a cute outfit! I brought along some props, and mom brought the cake and the flowers. They added on family photos to their package, which includes the CUTEST snuggle between her and her brother. Check out their whole session here.

Pineapples
For the session below, mom really wanted a pineapple themed session. She was thinking of paper decorations and things she found at the party store, but I had this vision with real pineapples. It turned out SO well! They also added on family photos to their session. Check out their whole session here.

Some notes about your session:
– Outfits are not included
-Messy portion isn’t provided (parents bring the cake, the canvas, the paint)
-Most sessions are done in the Roughley Originals Studio, but we are happy to go outside, or if you have another idea let’s chat!
-We have some props, so let’s chat about the vision. Parents have brought in flowers and greenery, or added to our props to create the look we’re going for.
