Studio or In Home Newborn Sessions

25 May 2022 | Newborn

Thank you so much for booking your newborn session with us! We are so excited to work with you. We offer studio and in home newborn sessions. For some people the choice is easy. For some, they’re not sure what to choose! I’m going to explain the differences in our Studio and In Home Newborn Sessions.

In Home

Some people choose in home sessions because they’ve worked really hard on the nursery. They want to show it off. It’s really fun to document all that work you put in.

You can see Sutton’s in home newborn session here.

Others love their home, they’ve spent so much time decorating it, and they want to have their photos in their beautiful space:

Being in your home also allows us to create really unique shots, such as this double exposure Gareth created, using the feature wall in baby’s bedroom that Illustrious Interiors painted:

Some parents choose in home newborn sessions when they have more than one child. Older children can be more comfortable in their own home, and it makes snack time, and occupying the older children easier once their part is finished. It also allows for a bit more candid, fun, playful photos. We will pose you in your in home session, but we also want to give you the space to play like you usually do, or maybe cuddle up and read a book together.

We also try to get a few updated photos of the older sibling!

We love our in home newborn sessions! BUT…we also love our studio sessions. The studio sessions are a bit more controlled, the set is ready, parents don’t have to worry about cleaning up (which is so nice with a newborn!)

Studio

In the studio we still focus on family photos. We have worked hard to create a cozy, “at home” vibe in our studio, so it still looks lovely in photos.

Candid moments happen too.

We also create beautiful sibling portraits.

One of the biggest differences in studio photo shoots is that we try to pose the newborn naked at some point in the session, an option we cannot offer in your home. This is because we warm our studio up A LOT so baby is still really comfortable. *Please note that we don’t always pose baby naked. It really depends on how comfortable baby is. If you don’t love it, just let us know!

Regardless of whether you choose Studio or In Home Newborn Sessions, rest assured we will capture gorgeous portraits of your newborn, of your family, and this very precious moment in your life.
